Israel’s recent bombing of Qatar probably didn’t help.
No shit, BRICS as I have been saying
The American empire is over. This century belongs to China. And no, I’m not a tankie, just realistic as to how history is playing out.
yay chinese imperialism!
No, we’re still in the century of development.
The Chinese Century starts in 2049.
I’m genuinely scared (Australia), because I don’t see any chance of China being overthrown from within at this point. They’ve got a lockdown on information beyond anything else historically.
You should be scared because you guys have FAT STORES OF GOLD that China 10000% wants. For the same reason Russia wants Canada, Greenland, and the US.
As an Australian I am much more worried aboit the UIS, they’ve gone full pants on head insane and have already successfully invaded and have troops here already.
At least with the Chinese we’d finanly get decent trains and better food…
That’s absolutelly natural at the end of line of an Imperial nation.
China too will end up like that.
Maybe the beginning of the Chinese Era won’t be too bad, but they’ll be as bad as America soon enough and eventually they too will go “full pants on head insane” as they reach their own end of line as Empire, though his this kind of thing historically takes a century or so to happen.
nah, don’t be afraid.
tl;dr: They can’t risk poking the West
China has zero experience in modern warfare, while every single Western nation has extensive history and practice. China hasn’t fought anything major in 50 years. Western militaries have been continuously active for decades in all manner of warfare and intelligence.
Chinese technology is also always lagging behind Western nations. Their infrastructure is also hastily built and very prone to collapse and malfunction, which also extends to products made in China. I’m sure you’ve had your own experience with the “made in China” level of quality.
China also has no control over global media, no country trusts them, most of the global community doesn’t trust them, and most Western civilians don’t trust them. If they start a war, they can’t call for international support.
China’s also surrounded by enemies who have a deep history of warfare and fighting against China, such as South Korea, Japan and India. All are largely rich nations with modern militaries and strong unity. China’s only allies are Russia, Iran and North Korea. Russia is not a reliable ally due to past skirmishes between China and Russia, North Korea is still reliant on soviet technology, and Iran is geographically far.
China also has limited control over its ocean, which is filled with allied ships and submarines. They can’t risk any naval assault and their every movement is tracked by multiple militaries. Their ships are also largely outdated and lacking in quality compare to Western nations, such as US, Japan and Australia.
Landwise China is surrounded by extremely challenging terrain for ground forces and extensive mountain ranges. Their supply and logistical lines are also severely limited. They can’t attack nations across the ocean due to their lack of submarine technology and naval power, they can only be funnelled through certain paths along the rugged terrain and they can’t defend against South Korea, Japan and India all at once, and that’s not even including other Western powers.
China’s population is also its largest weakness. China can’t sustain its population without relying on importing food from Western nations. They’re so desperate to control their population size that they’ve tried numerous attempts of population control, and none have yet been effective. Consider the devastation of Chinese citizens starving, they can’t risk that. Their economy also relies heavily on Western complacency, which can shift to India at a moment’s notice if China proves itself to be too unreliable; hence, China has to cater to Western demands for now.
When you piss everyone off and leave a vacuum, someone always steps in to fill it.
While that’s true, I’m still a bit astounded that absolutely zero Middle Eastern countries seem to care about the CCP’s suppression and quiet cultural genocide of the Uighur population
Every-fucking-body has something like that or worse (much worse, in some cases) going on or at least in their History.
So Egypt is hardly going to care about performative outrage from US-aligned nations about China’s very own Genocide when those nations themselves have done worse (in some cases way, way worse) and are currently supporting a vastly more murderous Genocide in the Middle East than whatever was done to the Uyghurs.
From Egypt’s point of view all the talk about the treatment of the Uyghur population in China from US-aligned nations is, as the Brits would say, the Pot calling the Kettle Black.
At this point, after 2 years of unwavering support of the mass murdering of children by the Israelis in Gaza, I doubt any non-Aligned nation cares in any way form or shape about the performative “humanitarianism” of US-aligned nations towards members of other alliances.
Egypt was and is very happy to blockade Gaza. The Saudis, UAE and a bunch more blockaded Yemen for ages. The Islamic State which commited a few genocides in the region was funded by the Golf States. Iran is financing a shit ton of genocidal groups around the region.
They really do not care about genocide. The population cares about Gaza, but the leadership does not.
Simple: it’s not their tribe. See also Yemen.
Muslims don’t give a shit about other Muslims, Uighur, Yemen.
See also Palestine.
Compare the actual genocide that’s unfolding in Gaza to Xinjiang. See the difference? That’s why.
Additionally, the level of repression in Xinjiang is baseline reality for anybody living in any of the American-backed monarchies and dictatorships of the MENA region, so it’s not even considered unusual to them.
Egypt helped blockading Gaza. Hell many were happy to blockade Yemen. The UAE currently finances a massive genocide in Sudan, which is certainly on a similar scale to Gaza.
The simple bloody truth is that similar to the West in MENA the governments do not care about genocide, but the people largely do.
Correct, although you’re missing the key point that all of those governments barring Iran and Yemen are US-backed military dictatorships and monarchies that recieve billions in American aid to prop up their regimes. They’re being paid off for their silence on the genocide with guns they can use to suppress the people.
America is currently in raging dumpster fire. Why would anyone willingly work with the US?
Most Australians are oddly still happy to keep their tounge up the US asshole. Several friends are going for holidays for example…
Will they ever pivot away from israel telling them to act as jail guards from egyptian border side?
they won’t as long as El-Sisi is in power - him and the Muslim Brotherhood (who are sympathetic/likely allied towards Hamas) have an obvious and long standing beef, given the 2013 coup against Morsi’s gov that put El-Sisi into power.
Considering the pivot to China, there’s likely someone at the US State Department right now with their finger hovering over the “coup” button for El-Sisi…
the thing is the “devil they know” is still likely more reliable towards so called “US interests,” even with them moving towards more ties with China, than what they could end up with via the fallout after another US supported coup (which would likely trigger mass protests and conflicts for power)
Will China refuse to talk to Egypt because of genocide or are the totally cool with genocide?
Hint: totally cool with genocide.
Yes they are totally cool with genocide as China is being one of the biggest trade partner to Israel. Worse than selling arms to Israel is having good economic ties that offset the effect of genocide on Israel economy. I’m no pro China. Egypt is cool with the genocide too and even act as a guard for Israel
Just as Trump wants it.
