          Or this: https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Grip-Thick-Kneeling-Pad/dp/B07L6QQD8R/

It’s for gardening, but it’s sooooo squishy and comfy.

I’m gonna keep this link for non-gym use. My house has hardwood floors, and this would be quite useful.

Most auto parts places sell these too Hazard Fraught as well.

For $5 right now instead of $19 at scamazon too.

No affiliation, just curious what they were charging now.

It’s hard to tell how far apart the poles are. If a piece of stock wood spans the difference, you could c-clamp one across them, if the strap ends up being too wobbly or unstable.

It’s pretty stable and the straps are actually quite comfortable behind my ankles. It’s just the setup that takes some time.

Right on. I imagine a plank of wood might not be so comfortable.

      I’m nordic and I didn’t know either.

But yes, we all do this every day all day, recreationally. I just didn’t know the name.

It was such a culture shock visiting Nord for the first time, the little bell went off and everyone just dropped what was in their hands and started doing this, and looking at me.

Holy shit, you didn’t do Nordic Curls in Nord? I’m surprised you made it out.

The traditional way is to do it heading towards where Santa Claus lives which unlike what Americans think is not the north pole but Korvatunturi located in Finnish Lapland right on the border of Russia.

I use a loaded barbell. About 120kg holds me in place ok.

I can’t really do them yet, mostly because I just haven’t acclimated to the movement. I think with some practice I’d be better at engaging the right muscles. I used an elastic strap as an assist and that ended with a bang! I should do them again. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it won’t be good for me to do.

The grass looks pretty comfortable compared to my rubber on concrete.

Yeah the grass quite good on knees. Much better than a folded up yoga matt on the gym floor.

I can’t do a single curl either but I’m only doing negatives which is the case with my every other excercise as well. I’m trying out eccentric overload training.

If you’ve got an old horse shoe pit in your yard like I still do, sand is probably a great place to do these.

My old knees aren’t up for it though, too many years of semi-extreme skiing.

!fitness@lemmy.world would be intrigued by this setup.

IMO, if it works, then it works! But if the tow strap is a bit wobbly, you might consider some sort of apparatus that can clamp to just one of those posts, which ideally would have two protrusions parallel to the ground, in order to anchor your feet there.
