Almost four years ago, I bought Chelsea boots because they’re apparently what Jared Padalecki wore in Supernatural and they looked good there - practicality didn’t enter my mind.

They arrived two days after I got home from the hospital from breaking my ankle. I didn’t put them on.

Yesterday I had to go out in the snow and couldn’t find my Wolverine boots, so I finally put on the Chelsea boots since they provide ankle support and had tread. They were amazingly comfortable and I didn’t slip!

I’ve got a pair of Blundstones, they’re great. I’ve had them for about six years now. They’re a bit scuffed but otherwise in perfect condition. They’ve shaped to my foot and are super comfortable. I’ve got another pair of Chelseas too from a brand I don’t remember, not a big name or anything but they are real leather, they’re also great too. If there wasn’t so much damn snow where I live I’d probably wear Chelseas all the time in the fall-spring. In the summer I wear Vessis (waterproof running shoes, company is Canadian which is why I bought them), they’re my absolute favourite footwear, but they’re obviously not appropriate for Canadian winters. My main winter boots are Sorels (also a Canadian company) and they’re the best winters I’ve ever had. The company has gone downhill a bit but they’re still good.

I have a cheap shitty pair I that were originally from H&M that I found thrifting. The fake leather is disintegrating but I do like that style! They look nice, are comfy, and have been nice to slip on and off

I haven’t found mine easy to slip on and off - possibly due to the various injuries I’ve sustained impacting the ankle - but I agree with the rest.

Yeah, I can absolutely see that making it harder. Theyre fairly easy for me to throw on in general, but compared to lacing up proper boots theyre crazy convenient

I mean like lace up boots without the zipper on the side. Especially when its made of thick or stiff material I find it really hard to cinch the material tight around my feet, and the laces dig into my hands trying to pull them tight and hold the laces while I get the bow tied

Perhaps “proper” kind of conveys a judgment for shoes that aren’t lace up, I didn’t really think about it till now
