If you’re on Windows it’s hard to recommend anything else. Nvidia has DLSS supported in basically every game. For recent games there’s the new transformer DLSS. Add to that ray reconstruction, superior ray tracing, and a steady stream of new features. That’s the state of the art, and if you want it you gotta pay Nvidia. AMD is about 4 years behind Nvidia in terms of features. Intel is not much better. The people who really care about advancements in graphics and derive joy from that are all going to buy Nvidia because there’s no competition.

It’s counter to the entire point! I think you may be on to something about this being a concession to Trump.

Enshitification is a consequence of legalized dumping. Companies are allowed to dump loss-making profucts and services on the market until they achieve dominance, then they squeeze the users that now have nowhere else to go. In startup-lingo this is blitzscaling followed by monetization. Our competition laws are 30 years behind the curve on this stuff.

Depends what’s in the landfill. Anything that rots is definitely the business of the rest of the neighborhood. But if it doesn’t smell, make noise, or gets blown ower property lines, then yes, it’s none but the owner’s business.

Ollama is apparently going for lock-in and incompatibility. They’re forking llama.cpp for some reason, too. I’d use GPT4All or llama.cpp directly. They support Vulkan, too, so your GPU will just work.

That’s not a financial decision. That’s just them lacking technical expertise. And let’s be real - the S is not some kind of potato. It’s perfectly capable. You need ever so slightly less detailed 3D models and textures than on the X but I don’t remember this being a huge issue during the PS4 generation.

Not having lots of SKUs and a user-managed OS is kinda what the console experience is about. Steam OS does not deliver a console experience. Steam Deck kinda does (except not really), but Steam OS is just a part of that.

MS has sold more S than X, according to a quick google. Not sure why you’d want to port a game to Xbox Series X without making the game playable on S.

NixOS is like that every day for no reason
