Just to add to the answers that the sort of thing you are talking about exists. It’s called low code, with companies like Outsystems and Mendix.

If you read the news from Portugal, the response was pretty atrocious.

For photos I use synology photos (it’s a legacy that’s good enough and I don’t want to migrate my parents and in-laws to immich). Photos are backed up logically into folders in normal type files, so in case the software stops working, it’s all still there.

For documents I use paperlessngx. Its less friendly should it stop working (the documents are numbered going up, no human names) but they are still pdf/jpg whatever, so its just some more work to get to know what they are.

Both of these have lasted me for years now, so I’m not too worried for the future.

As for all other files, just some shared folders where I back stuff up based on my own use.

People get their panties in a twist over this one, but they still operate within the law. What should they have done here, not complied? It’s a court order, from their country.

De-listing is likely a result of expired licensing or similar, and I don’t think it’s feasible (or realistic) to require companies to renew licenses in perpetuity just to keep selling games.

An important reminder that if this can be enacted into law, there is a chance it would not only apply to games but also at some point maybe to all software that does not require a server to operate most basic functions (ie. looking at you adobe)
