Nice. Only omitted that one because I hadn’t heard of it. I like to switch apps every so often so will check it out.

Any reason why you can’t just use one of the many, many web-based apps and “install” it? Photon, Alexandrite, Tesseract, Voyager, and many more all let you “install” them to your home screen. They run in your phone’s web browser but don’t have the address bar and work full screen and basically look/act like native apps.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I had to go into the office this evening for the first time in 6 months
5·5 days agoPretty much. We have a maintenance window of X hours starting at Y o’clock and a schedule we follow. The last hour to 90 minutes of the window is the decision point where we either finalize things if they’re on track or rollback and re-schedule after breaking down what went wrong.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I had to go into the office this evening for the first time in 6 months
4·5 days agoYep, we’re fortunate enough to still have on-prem servers (we’ve also got co-located and cloud assets as well). So those plus the IP phones and all the routing since we have a few satellite offices that routed through the main office. Breaking the field offices out of that was part of the changes were were doing.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are you doing with your spare solar power?
2·5 days agoI’m eventually going for a hybrid heat pump model but I mentioned a cheap electric resistive one as a preheater because it’s easy to use as a dump load

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are you doing with your spare solar power?
16·6 days agoI just got my two 314 AH batteries and 10KW inverter yesterday, so I’m not at the “spare solar power” point yet, but a lot of people will have a second electric water heater (in “front” of the main one) that acts as a dump load and pre-heats the water before it gets to the main tank.
I’m looking at getting a Slate EV truck hopefully next year, so that will also charge from my installation.
Grid-tie and exporting surplus PV generation isn’t an option for me due to electric company shenanigans.
I suppose when I do get to the excess PV point, I might just buy additional batteries

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is lemmy.sdf.org coming back?English
6·7 days agoI never really got the humor there, lol, but I’m lamenting the loss of 80s TV because I had a lot of good Golden Girls posts since I’m finally watching it for the first time.

12·7 days agoMy (limited) understanding is that there’s no straightforward way to do that at least in Lemmy.

These are all 90s cartoons, so if you can find them:
- Batman: The Animated Series (the one with Mark Hamill as the Joker)
- Animaniacs
- Tiny Toon Adventures
- Chip n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers
Pinky and the BrainSaw you have that one already

Tact (noun): a keen sense of what to do or say in order to maintain good relations with others or avoid offense
Ah. Okay. I use a client that handles YT embeds so that’s why then. However, when I’m on a VPN, sometimes it puts me through an endless captcha loop.
I’m assuming that’s a VPN problem? They always work fine as embeds for me.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•My small PV system is working :)
3·12 days agoOh, I’m stupid lol. I was only referring to the PV period from 8-5. On the full 24 hour graph, including the times it’s not on PV, that probably is the fridge

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•My small PV system is working :)
2·12 days agoIt does kind of match that, energy profile-wise, but fridge was definitely on the power station and isn’t reflected in the graph from 8am to 5pm. I wanted to make sure I could run that from PV alone and after that was confirmed, just kept putting it on PV during the day. That, and the usage graph seems to be averaged over 30 minute intervals, so I don’t think a momentary spike like a motor’s startup draw would show like it would with a realtime graph.

3·12 days agoFridge/freezer is running from the power station, but the huge spike around 6pm is it kicking into its defrost cycle after I took it off the PV.

1·12 days agoLiterally these.
Once I get the wiring done and everything settled in, I may pick up another set and have a total of four 16KWh batteries and two inverters for a total of 20KW (the inverters can parallel up to 6 units, and the batteries up to 15).
