NATO’s top commander says European allies have mostly filled gaps left by the U.S. reducing its military contributions to the organization's crisis plans.
Along with the dollar being the standard for a lot of international trade, the military assistance provided by the US is one of the biggest reasons for their international power. Like, without those what does the US have to offer the rest of the world that aren’t just shitty tech companies that suffer from extreme enshitification.
And the main reason that the US is able to provide that assistance is by having bases in forward positions. Without those, it’s a lot harder to project military strength or bomb schools.
