I am lonely and have a shitty job that I could lose any given day, but I can’t talk to an AI like a person. I think it’s mostly ignorance of how they work and some people believe that LLMs can actually think and possibly even feel.
That’s because the engineer claiming that was clearly under some heavy substances, I would imagine (rich people will do that). On top of that, people claim one’s speaking to a devil (it’s a religious trick) when using AI, but it will be in society whether we like it or not.
Not a doctor, but psychologically speaking, it’s due to loneliness, and a job that’s not secure.

It doesn’t help when you get AI engineers claiming that the AI they worked on is actually sentient.
