For decades Tokyo held the title of the most populous city on the planet. Yet the Indonesian and Bangladeshi capitals have overtaken the Japanese megacity.

    The funny thing about Tokyo is that it’s not actually a city. It’s a completely urban state with a bunch of cities inside it.
