Today’s game is some more Max Payne 2. I made it all the way through the Apartments today. The latter half when you’re in that big apartment? It was hell. I ran out of pills at the final boss fight and was basically save scumming the entire fight move by move. Maybe Lem was onto something when he asked Max “What the fuck is wrong with you”? Because that was a wild section, and i probably should have just loaded an earlier save.

Speaking of wild, it was awesome hearing some of the Characters singing the credits song (Late Goodbye). Going back through this is a treat because you notice all these new details. This janitor will end up going through most of the song, i made Max sit here and listen to the whole thing.

When making my way through the apartment i also made sure to keep these NPCs alive. I did it last time i played, it only seems right i do it again. I had quick saves prepared just to save them in case something went wrong. Thankfully i never had too. Too this day they’re still alive.

Overall i just wanted to gush about how cool it is going through this again, you notice a lot of little details you didn’t the first time. I feel like Remedy has a knack for that. Alan Wake 1 & 2 did it, and i’m sure Control does it too. I’d bet Max Payne 1 does it too.
Rockstar is remaking Max Payne 1 and 2!
Even better, Remedy themselves are! Rockstar are publishing it though as they own the rights to the IP. I’m super curious about how they’ll turn out, especially with James McCaffrey’s passing.
Can’t be any worse than the GTA slop they did a couple years ago, right?
Remedy made some GTA slop?
No, Rockstar outsourced a ‘remaster’ of the early 3D games that was poorly handled.
I also make sure in to visit the easter egg shrine everytime I’m playing the appartment section.
I feel like Remedy has a knack for that.
They definetely do, always a treat to explore their spaces.
It’s interesting when games do that, though as someone who rarely replays game, I never really notice these things.
