Which Android app would you recommend for Lemmy? I’m looking for something simple, something I can just scroll through while I’m bored. Doesn’t have to be on google’s store.

Voyager for the lulz. But honestly it’s what I use on both platforms.

I just think it’s so funny that Apollo was iOS only and the developer said it would never come to Android. Voyager is based on Apollo (I think the Apollo source was posted when the app was blocked by Reddit) and it works just fine on Android. I guess because the source was posted and people who care were able to port it. But as far as I can tell it looks and feels like a native iOS app (that was the design goal of Apollo)… on Android. Then again, my Android TV has AirPlay built in, and when you go into the AirPlay settings, Apple’s design language is all over it. We think of Apple/iOS and Google/Android as polar opposites and bitter rivals, but the truth is, they sometimes work together (beyond Google paying Apple millions to keep their search default on iOS). And the two design languages are, not only “just that”, but also not mutually exclusive to one another.

Another vote for boost. So customizable that you can make it exactly how you want your experience to be.

The free version does have ads but the paid is a dollar a year and it goes straight to the developer.

    Thunder.

But really, just try them out. You’ll get a dozen recommendations here. If you use F-Droid just search for Lemmy and start at the top.

Whoa, that’s a pretty awesome tecolotyl! I’m glad you’re still enjoying all the owls.

If OP is just looking to browse and maybe make the occasional post or comment, any of the clients people recommend are going to be fine. But for anyone active here, Summit has really aided my productivity, it’s very customizable to my style tastes and my workflow, and the dev is very active here and has been an amazing help taking people’s feedback and lightning fast bug fixes. I don’t know if I’d be as active here as I am without Summit being what it is, and I’m very grateful for it.

I just started using Blorp. It’s open source, very smooth, and the developer is quick to respond to bug reports.

I like Voyager, it’s essentially a web app though so it’s a bit slower than native apps. A bit sluggish on my low end phone.

For my low end phone I use Boost. It’s proprietary and comes with google ads, so I use adaway/luckypatcher to disable them.

I started out using Boost For Lemmy, but have been using Interstellar for the last 4 months, because it supports Lemmy, PieFed and Mbin accounts.

Also, a recent feature, which I really like - When I go into the comment section of a post, I’ll see comments from across multiple communities, even ones I’m not a part of. Makes the fediverse feel more alive. It’s not just from cross-posts either afaict, and it’s not always perfect (Sometimes you’ll get a few comments on a post that are not related to it at all). But even then it’s still cool for discoverability of different communities!

Anyway, I thought I’d never leave Boost, but I’m Interstellar all the way for now and in the foreseeable future. Free and open-source, and apparently available for Android, Linux, and Windows devices, although I only use it on Android.

Thanks for the support. The unrelated comments is due to how Mbin classifies posts as cross posts based on either the url or the post title. It’s pretty good usually but sometimes when the title is relatively simple or generic there are some false positives.

Either Interstellar, which also works for piefed, or Raccoon. Both are overall pretty good. Raccoon has a bit more feature choices for Lemmy.

I used to use Eternity but they haven’t updated the app in a while so I began searching elsewhere.
