Aspiring Vtuber who currently narrates for [at]CoRedRead on YouTube (Invidious is recommended, though).
I’m an aspiring Vtuber focused right now on narrating for one of three YouTube channels I’m associated with (that being Cocules Reddit Readings), but I want to expand on that in the future once I get myself out there with proper connections.
I do this, however, using Linux and FOSS. My producer does his channels the exact same way.
Honestly, IBM deserves to get DDoS’d for their actions. This is because of the push for Wayland, PipeWire, Systemd and some other things they want to shove down our throats.
My producer and I aren’t like that, thankfully.
My producer and I personally use Bash. We tried zsh, but that didn’t treat us very well. Fish is actually pretty nice, though.
Neigsendoig (my producer) and I have used i3 for a while… and we’ve probably stayed on that since we first started using WMs.
That said, we’ve attempted the likes of Xmonad (configured in Haskell), Awesome (configured in Lua), HerbstluftWM, BSPWM, Hypr (not Hyprland), JWM, Ratpoison and even SXWM.
Neigsendoig and I wouldn’t recommend any Wayland compositor due to new security risks (despite an attempt to fix X11 security issues), though a lot of people want Wayland to be shoved down our throats. We personally use X11 due to many things that Wayland devs can’t/won’t fix.
This is also part of the reason why the two of us are excited about XLibre (as much as some will hate the control of IBM, GNOME and FreeDesktop with their Wayland, Systemd and PipeWire push). Sure, its main developer left the project from what we’ve heard, but otherwise, there are a lot of contributions to it, and it will improve big time.
Nostr is one of them, but I’d learn how to set that up first before using Primal.
Also, Nostr means Notes and Stuff on Relays, and is Free Software. This is the wild west of the internet, from what I was notified by my producer, Neigsendoig.
Neither Neigsendoig nor I will be grabbing any of them. That’s just our prerogative (though, to be clear, we aren’t for this censorous garbage).
That’s the problem. It’s the payment processors who were bullied by Collective Shout who chose what to ban, not Valve or the US.
I’d rather self-host with rclone and NextCloud if necessary, as Google Drive is not for me. I won’t even be getting a Google account (though my producer does).
Not necessarily self-host, but I actually have an Obsidian vault that’s local-only. That is a vault where I can do my content creation brainstorming, especially script writing for Cocules Reddit Readings, of which I happened to be the new narrator for.
Otherwise, I try to do everything local without having to use something like Syncthing or NextCloud.
EA already ruined PvZ after releasing the second main game in the series.
I won’t be buying this one after what they pulled on PopCap.
My PFP is actually AI generated with a local model (Stable Diffusion 1.5) thanks to my producer, Neigsendoig (who goes by Sendo). Personally speaking, both Sendo and I are into generative AI, and use it with proper disclosure.
Most people should do that whenever they use generative AI for anything, provided that AI is an integral part of the production.
This is why I just use the Chaotic AUR, knowing that something like this was being posted everywhere. My producer, Neigsendoig, does the exact same with his machine.
We both use CachyOS anyway.
The problem is that we don’t know how to DDoS anything (which is a good problem to have). We already use a different distro, and stay away as best as we can from the above described.
