And, one could argue, that their development literally went the opposite way to what could be called communist with a straight face. This is why the Maoist-types call this shit “democratic centralism,” which is essentially just double-speak for “what the party says goes.”

That’s why they love movies like Saving Private Ryan (which justifies the horror by ascribing justification to it) while disliking movies such as The Thin Red Line or Catch 22 (which strips any kind of justification away from it).
