Hi, it me.
Didn’t they make a Pixelfed app? Is this different, or are they just tarting their own server with their app?
Just puked a little after reading that.
No? Huh, I could have sworn I had downloaded an APK and just assumed it was the beta. Haven’t had an Android in a year, though, so I might just be misremembering or thinking of another app.
Weird. I feel like at some point I remember it having a dark mode on one or the other. Wonder when and why it was removed.
As of now, the iOS app does not have a dark mode. Though, I believe the Android version does.
“Unfortunately, we’ve found we need an addition trillion per year to ensure our salaries can continue to inflate.”
It’s slowly but surely growing. I also get more engagement there than anywhere else right now.
I mean, I am. I held out because I’m a photographer with local friends & connections that are only on Meta’s platforms. But, it’s just not worth it anymore. It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve had enough.
I heard video killed the radio star.
Interesting. I’ll keep an eye on it, but I do wonder if more serious photographers looking to move from IG will feel overwhelmed. First, they need to choose to go to the fediverse over something like Flickr, Foto.app, or Vero. Then, not only will they need to wrap their heads around how the fediverse works, but then also pick a platform and instance, all while leaving behind potentially thousands of followers on IG.
I think we’re hitting a point where the fediverse will be like GNU/Linux. Lots of potential, but too fragmented to get past more than a niche user base with specific priorities.
