Oh that’s good. I like that.
Oh that’s good. I like that.
And fuck you too btw PirateSoftware :)
That… didn’t end well, did it?
Outdoor ceremony in 40 degree bone chilling weather.
40 degrees is chilly? I don’t want to know what’s warm for you. Do you live in the Sahara or something? Dry heat?
Even sadder is that there are no popular EU streamers throwing their weight behind the initiative. What are they waiting for? Does PewDiePie still stream games?
Would be better if citizens actually cared and didn’t dream of becoming the USA 🤷♂
Games are a luxury that happen to be the biggest market of the entertainment industry with more revenue than music and movies combined.
This isn’t “just a petition”. It’s a formal path to get a response from the EU commission. If it reaches the thresholds, the EU commission is forced by law to consider it. It isn’t some random petition that can be filed away and never heard of again.
Which is exactly what the EU Citizen’s Initiative is about 👌
Gaming is the biggest entertainment industry on the planet. Globally it generates more money than music and movies combined. Germany alone had an estimated 49 million players in 2022 (wikipedia), with France 45 million and Italy 36 million. Even if they were wrong by one decimal that would still make more than 12 million in those 3 countries alone.
The vast majority of European gamers are just too lazy to do anything in their own self-interest. It’s embarrassing.
I understand why he’s frustrated. EU citizens are just so damn lazy and won’t help themselves. I’ve told all my friends and family, brought it up at parties and other gatherings to anybody who plays games. But there are EU gamers (streamers and consumers alike) who are chronically online, on every proprietary platform out there and who don’t give 2 shits about the campaign.
Edit: Fuck Thor.
Glad to know Greece is focusing on the important things. The rest of their country is doing swimmingly 👌
The moths approve of this
Exposing how centralised bluesky is, once again.
Wow, it’s been 2 years already? Time flies! Cheers to the leavers
Exciting! I don’t play DotA, but this sounds like an interesting idea. You might get a good response from the people on Steam. Just post it in the dota 2 discussions. I assume that’s where the majority of them are?
Over-promising and under-delivering are normal - that goes for both directions. I think it’s undeniable that machine learning / AI has been improving at a steady pace. Sure, the current cycle will reach its peak, but there will be another and another. I don’t believe AGI is a matter of if, more a matter of when. Whatever technology they’re using now is not it, but it may play a part and even if it doesn’t become AGI, it will be one more thing to tick off and explore new roads.
As someone said “this is the worst AI will ever be”. It’ll keep getting better. We just have to be prepared for the next cycle and not be caught off-guard. But knowing humans, we are terrible at long-term planning and preparing. The next cycle will catch the majority with their pants down and we will be scrambling to pull them up while whatever it is was developed changes our world yet again.
Maybe we’re all just waiting for reddit to pull another… reddit.
