  • They’re around but not nearly as bad as they are on sites like Reddit, Facebook, X, etc. They are also usually called out when someone is trying to circumvent the bot tag. It probably helps that Lemmy is much smaller, so there’s less incentive to send spambots to something like Lemmy compared to larger places.

That said, asudox is right in that there aren’t really any built in safeguards either, it’s pretty much up to the admins and/or mods to stop them.

  • I once accidentally scryed in a puddle: I “saw” a scene outside my friend’s house with police cars and bad vibes. I called them to see if they were OK but they absolutely refused to talk about it, then I started getting threatened online. I tried talking to my friend’s cousin about it too, but she said she promised not to tell anyone. It turned out this friend’s brother got in trouble for domestic abuse after attacking her (I only found out years later). He was likely the one threatening me online.

My best guess is that somehow I subconsciously figured it out and the reflection in the puddle kinda acted as a focal point for putting together details I didn’t even realize I’d picked up. I’d always been pretty good at intuiting some kinds of information, but this was a whole different level. I also haven’t really experienced anything quite like it since.

  • Games I’ve enjoyed in terms of shenanigans:

    -GTA 3-5

-Just Cause 3 (4 too, but it’s not as good)

    -Untitled Goose Game

    -BOTW

    -Read Dead Redemption 2

    -Saint’s Row 2-4

-Cyberpunk 2077 (driving is kinda meh, motorcycles are a little more fun)

    -Watchdogs

    -Elder Scrolls

    -Teardown

Also, I haven’t played it, but I heard the new Indiana Jones game is fun with high shenanigan potential.

I still go to reddit and you are basically describing reddit itself: It’s a bunch of reposts. Not sure what you mean about “uncensored” exactly but if you’re talking about NSFW stuff, there’s instances that cater to that sort of thing here too.

You will get better results if you browse all and start subscribing to things you actually like, then set your filter to subscribed and you’re off to the races!
