It is nothing to be embarrassed about, usenet is very old which is why most people don’t knwo about it. Usenet has been around since 1980. You can refer to the below link for more info.

NZBGeek an indexer offer a trial and Usenet farm offer a 10 GB trial if you want to test it. If you want usenet to get it you look for deals. You got two ways for usenet either ultimate or block (basically prepaid you pay for data and they don’t expire you get them forever)
Block 6 TB for €15 (2800+ retention ) : https://bulknews.eu/en/ and use the code bf241.
NZBGeek an indexer costs $12 a year they also offer deals throughout unfortunately black Friday is over so no deals now.
If you got this you get a total of $27.62 for the year which is $2.3 per month.
Of course if you are comfortable with torrent just stay on torrent and maybe use IRC for anything you can’t find a torrent for.
I though the same too, but realized that it is easier than looking for torrents with seeders. I used to pay more for netflix than what I currently pay for Usenet. Torrenting these days isn’t the same as years ago, many public torrent sites closed. I selfhost a server that basically does everything for me I only need to pick the show to download. You can try usenet for free, usenet.farm offer a 10 GB block to trial Usenet, also the indexer NZBGeek offer a trial if I am not wrong.
When I first heard of IPFS, I also thought it was anoymous, but I researched and it just like bittorrent everyone can see your IP. You have to use VPN.

If you want an anonymous P2P try freenet or I2P. There is also a new anonymous network currently being developed called Vailid which seems promising.
What are talking about, IPFS isn’t anonymity network, it is similar to torrenting everyone can see your ip.
Just looked up Veilid seems to similar to I2P, but it is still in development and can’t be used for now. Also I agree that IPFS is horrible and not just the setup, the developer themselves are against piracy. What is the point of a decentralised network that picks and chooses what it hosts? BitTorrent, Tor, Freenet, and I2P never did this as far as I know.

Yeah the AI thing is stupid, everyone suddenly wants to incorporate AI. Check out the telegram bot though, you can request research papers or books through the bots and someone uploads it in a couple of hours.
Tried it, way better than I2PSnark, I wonder why it isn’t mentioned on the official page. I2PSnark should be abandoned in my opinion, it is simply awful.
Glad to see people promoting I2P, which should all move to I2P.
There are alternatives, but people don’t move to them, so they don’t improve. I2P is a good alternative for torrent, but not many people want to move to it.
IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a protocol for messaging and XDCC is a file sharing method that it uses.
IRC: https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/k08hje/when_people_say_irc_is_dead
Usenet is basically the first forum to exist on the internet and people discovered that they could share files by encoding them into messages, for example lets say I take a file encode and divide it over a 1000 tweets. I would also make a file called NZB to find the messages and share it, so people could download it. Usenet still exists for file sharing, but it is paid. You would need an indexer that finds the files and a usenet service. Honestly you could get both indexer and the usenet service for as cheap as $2.5 per month way cheaper than Netflix.
For more info about usenet check out: https://reddit.com/r/usenet/wiki/faq
Fair enough, but I did try with tracker couldn’t connect with anyone, switched to I2PSnark worked very well.
The problem is that qbitorrent doesn’t support DHT via I2P only trackers, you can clearly see the difference in peer numbers if you use I2PSnark. Officially it should work, but I couldn’t get any peers.
Let me introduce you to Library STC.

Go to usenet, it is way better, or IRC if these torrent are slow.
There are two new browsers coming Servo written in Rust and Ladybird (web browser) written in Swift. Lets see which one will win. Ladybird alpha is coming in 2026 and they have more funding.
Windows 11.
I test firefox vs edge in my pc, both with ublock origin. Firefox noticeably uses more ram than edge which uses same engine as chrome.
Here this person saw the same results as me: https://libreddit.bus-hit.me/r/firefox/comments/18gp19l/ram_usage_in_firefox_vs_edge
It will still lower memory usage considerably, Firefox uses way more memory than Chrome. Memory optimization is horrible in Firefox.
I haven’t tried seedbox, but Usenet is very cheap and you can consider it similar to having private trackers I suppose. You will find many releases on Usenet that you will only find in private trackers. Also you don’t need seeders, so as long as the file wasn’t removed by DCMA you can download it.
