It involves disconnecting the battery and some other stupid shit that the boss wasn’t going to approve me doing.
So they stayed on ChromeOS.
People talk about Apple locking their shit down a lot, but I never had to open up a MacBook to install Linux.

I’m a former truck driver. I went back to school and graduated during the pandemic to an industry that required people to be around eachother. I took the job to tide me over until things opened up again.
Knowing they were short qualified drivers, I was very loud about these issues. I did eventually get my route fixed, but it took 3 months! I quit when I was reprimanded and told to let kids pee their pants after stopping at a gas station to let a little girl pee.
In my area it’s retired people and immigrants. Regardless, the job is a huge responsibility and should pay as such. Safety concerns and late routes should be taken seriously.
I don’t doubt it. I drove a school bus for three years. The companies don’t give a fuck about anything but money.
Your route is literally impossible to do because of the laws of physics? Tough shit. Routes go over an hour and a kid has to pee? Let them pee their pants. Also, we’re going to pay you minimum wage while being responsible for a heavy vehicle carrying 30+ children in rush hour traffic. These are the problems drivers face. Its why they have like 300% turnover.

Oh man I just picked up a floor model base M4 mini for $600 CAD in April. I already thought that was a good deal since they were retailing for $800 new. Now I see they’re selling for $1100. Yikes! I dodged a bullet. Hopefully this machine gets me through the bubble.

I didn’t finish high school until I was 35. I went back to college and needed to upgrade on mark. I had failed two classes needed to graduate due to a poor home-life. (I missed a lot of school and barely handed in work - had 35% in the class, got 75% on the exam - did not reach a passing grade. In both classes!)
I only needed one of the two to get in to my program, but I just went ahead and did them both to get my diploma while I was at it.
It was English and social studies that I needed to graduate, so it wasn’t too hard. Where I live you can challenge the exams for free if you’ve been out of school for more than two years. So I did a 2-day exam prep course (at $90 each) with a bunch of high schoolers before each one. Got 89% on each exam, got my diploma in the mail like a month later. 😎
I got 5 T420s (nice) from my boss last year. Now they’re all running Linux and loaded up with late 90s, early 2000s games to play over LAN
