I’m pro piracy, and anti-copyright (or at least, anti copyright as it exists today). That said, steam is a legitimate competitor to piracy AND can coexist with it.

Steam— Cons: it costs money. DRM exists. Pros: the majority of the money goes to devs, great ui, fantastic networking tools (they literally have invested in additional physical networking wires (OSI layer 1) to expand bandwidth for use in gaming on their platform), consumer oriented discovery of new titles, consumer oriented review tools, useful socialization functionality, automatic updates, easy and simple access to developer communication, easy mod support, customer support/service, and there’s probably more I haven’t thought of off the top of my head.

Piracy— Pros: free, no drm Cons: less convenient than steam, have to be scam/virus aware, needs privacy protection to be safe and to keep up with what the minimum requirements for being safe are, requires technical skill and know-how, lacks all steam’s pros.

And the nice thing is, piracy still exists, so if you need a drm free version for any reason at all, it’s still there!

I hold that If their claims were true, any sketchy marketing would be forgiven very, very quickly.

Technically, they have a very short distance to climb if they wanted to: just give the battery (or preferably multiple batteries) to an independent 3rd party to test to their hearts content. If they aren’t full of shit, that’d clear things up in an instant. If someone can show their claims are true, that’s all they need.

If they are completely full of shit, then there’s no no way out of the hole. I think this is unlikely given the carefully selected tests they’ve already released— they have… something. It likely isn’t an entirely non-existent product appearing only on paper.

If they are only partially full of shit, in that they have a battery that is decent or better than current batteries but not totally fulfilling their claims, then it’s a moderate hole to climb out of. Some egg on the face, but survivable.

If they are substantially full of shit, with batteries that are equivalent or worse than current batteries, then they’re gonna be laughed out of the market real fast. Probably mentioned in the same breath as Peter Molyneux, for similar reasons.

I don’t know. With the exception of a single feature, I’ve found photoshop better to use than GIMP. The one feature exception is GIMP’s wonderful “color to alpha” feature, and I always keep a gimp install around just for it.

Photoshop just seems easier to use, and more robust? With nicer effects, better filters, etc etc? At least for the features I tend to use. I’m not a professional by any means, but I tweak and composite and blend images a fair bit for my various hobbies (mostly ttrpgs).

My smartwatch has literally changed my life. I got it because I needed to keep track of blood oxygen on a regular basis for a medical condition, and while the finger clip reader was okay I wanted something I had on me all the time. But the mere fact that I could see, on an ongoing basis, how many calories I was burning was extremely motivating to my adhd mind, and I started exercising, then tracking calories and dieting, I’ve built muscle, lost fat, and actually changed my lifestyle in general. And don’t tell me I could have done those things without a smartwatch— years of empirical evidence contradict that statement.

A question only a young person would ask. After you become an adult, it’s not creepy to hang out with other adults. Before you’re an adult is when you give a shit about other people’s ages, because it matter.

You have Batman Beyond and Batman Caped Crusader, but no Batman: TAS? The show that redefined Batman away from goofy Adam West style comedy and into deep character drama… some of those episodes still give me the chills to this day. That show elevated camp into something deep and truly moving.

It was their self-descriptor until they learned other leftists didn’t like them much (because they’re authoritarian and supportive of fascist dictators such as Putin), and naming them using their self designated term meant they were excluded from other leftists. So they started taking offense.

Don’t forget: this game was pretty good but was made before various UI and control standards were really set in stone as known best practices, so I’d love to play the game again as I remember it, not as it actually existed.

Some ideologies are, in fact, mutually exclusive and cannot tolerate the others. Fascism cannot be tolerated, for instance. Nor can a belief in chattel slavery as a universal good. Sometimes an opposing ideology is just too fucking evil to be allowed to persist.

Setting the line that must not be crossed is a hard no problem though. And misplacing that line an inch incorrect in either direction can be horrible too.

I wonder how you would fix this bug without completely destroying your PC… you can’t run the full simulation for the entire unloaded world. You just can’t.
