I’ve had a blast with the Horizon games from the first entry, and many of the Motorsport entries as well. Horizon strikes a great balance of arcade mechanics and style with tight, grounded physics and a pretty deep upgrade and tuning system. I basically only ever play solo, no multiplayer matches or anything, usually I’ll throw on a podcast or an audiobook, explore the map and do some races to make money, build a new car and repeat.

It’s got a pretty good damage model (which can be turned off entirely for single player content) but the crash physics aren’t as rich. With full damage on you definitely have to be careful to avoid wrecking your car, but you won’t get full body warping damage.
