Its because they think most humans are useless eaters, and this is based on the idea that your human value is connected to how much money you make.
They also think most humans are dumb and just doesnt contribute anything.
The idea that humans can be here to just enjoy their life is something they absolutely despise.

Its a good idea so people dont have to reinvent the wheel, but we need to be very careful and make sure its not forcing the fediverse to become less open and less anonymous.

Yeah it will just be talking to an AI and getting automatic rejections of any complaints or concerns. Pretty much like trying to reach a person at Google today, but worse.
If people dont put their foot down and start saying no to these data centers, it will be too late.
I listen to this guy on YouTube, just a normal retired it worker that makes good videos about life. Today he posted about a data center and how the community worked together to stop it:
I work alone building stuff, because I like doing it my way without compromises.
If you work with others, the result is influenced by wanting to make everybody happy, so it becomes a mix of good and bad decisions, and average quality software.

If you eliminate people, you also eliminate poverty.
How many workers you think is going to be needed in this potential future the elites are building?

We are going in that direction. Data centers being built all over the place is the very foundation for tracking every human on the planet.
I think future generations will not have any ability to go online, shop, work or live without a real id tracking everything about them.
You voice your concerns about something unpopular online, you may be blocked from taking a loan or work a job. Fear of stating your true opinion will be everywhere.

Lol. :)
Ok mate, have a good day…

My username is inspired by the movie 1984. I think we live more in a world similar to Brave New World though, but it has some things from 1984 built in. Like controlling what is seen by the masses as truth and making people self-censor their thoughts, those things I see strongly in todays society, and they are from 1984.

I can see your point but almost no people are going to prefer going shopping on a bike (or kayak).
Its nice that you live like that. Sounds very cool, but cars are there for a reason… :) People need to actually get their stuff done quickly and conveniently.
Sure, all the downsides you mentioned are there, but lets not be blind to the enormous upsides that you can literally go anywhere without effort or being exposed to the weather.

I cant imagine that game being allowed today. Maybe if they replaced the male hero with a young girl hero it would be accepted.

I doubt anyone will pay half the price of a 4 year old model if its 18 years old…!
A lot of things break on cars that old, so any buyer has to be a bit stupid to pay that price…

I buy one maybe a few times per year. Its also a very good gift to someone. You get a bit of excitement together and there is always that tiny chance of winning.

For me the car meant i felt like a grown up with tons of freedom. I can go anywhere, see anything.
I used to feel like you until i got one. But now, no way im ever living without one again. Its a life upgrade you cant go back from.

Not if you have a media player… I dont watch anything with ads.

Yeah, cant go back from that. I have one myself, 30 inch. Everything looks super crisp and smooth on it.

Pulled down how? They will just keep using office or azure or whatever. No changes.
Seems to me that the Microsoft stock may drop 20% but otherwise, what consequences will it really have on European markets?

Find a way to make money from darkness and you are a rich man. :p
I laughed a bit at “No daylight period”…
You have watched the movie The Thing right? Takes place in the arctic somewhere, quite scary.

Next idea : Shining ads in space, powered by sunlight, so people always have something to look at. /puke
Yeah I understand the value of that. We can see it also in consumer electronics, or any consumer product really, how its designed to break right after warranty.
Its fun to hear from these companies how they care about the environment while at the same time producing endless things that will end up in the trash in just a few years.
