Hello, everyone. 👋
I experience a persistent issue with having no sound during the MS Teams meetings. Other meeting attendees can hear me and I don’t hear them, which complicates communication significantly. The volume bar in the settings is also greyed out.
Usually, I access MS Teams meetings via the links that are shared with me. I don’t have a Teams / Microsoft account either. I have tried to access meetings via browsers (Brave, LibreWolf with relaxed settings, even Chrome and Edge) and teams-for-linux app.
I have tested pretty much all the possible Sound profiles and only Duplex seems to be recognized by Teams (I see Built-In Audio Analog), just it seems inactive for output sound. The pavucontrol settings seem fine. The system sounds work fine. I can listen to music etc. with the current settings. The issue seems to be isolated to MS Teams specifically.
System.: Linux Fedora 44 kde
Hardware: Lenovo Y530 laptop.
I use Fedora and Teams for work. The official teams app for Linux was deprecated, MS recommends using a browser and/or the PWA. I use Google Chrome for my MS apps because it seems to work a little better. I have the standard workstation version of Fedora 44 installed, not KDE, but I actually use Sway for my WM instead of GNOME, I just have it available for a backup. I do not have audio issues like this. I recommend you clear all the MS cookies and double check the browser audio access settings for teams, usually available from a button on the left side of the address bar. The volume bar being grayed out is a sign that the teams web app isn’t able to see an audio device.
I use fedora with wayland and use teams at work. The non official desktop program is completely unusable.
What I end up doing when I have a call is open it both in Firefox and chrome and check which one works first. I’ll open it on my phone as well in case neither works. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.
I found that audio does not work if you connect headphones after the browser was started.
In general my solution is to push to use jitsi anytime I can.
Has anyone tried windows teams app in bottles or win-apps?
Do you have any other audio devices? Bluetooth headphones or speakers might be a good thing to test with.
Well, Samsung ear buds, but would they connect? 🤷♂️
It probably depends on your BT adapter but I use Bluetooth audio daily for teams on Fedora. No idea about Samsung in particular, don’t own anything from them. Sony, Fiio, Shoks all work fine on my end.
MS Teams
Well there’s your problem lol
I know, but I can’t ditch it entirely yet.
Microft moment
True. Microslop haunting. 🤭
