Swedish intelligence said Russia has been covering up a weak, debt-driven economy hit by war costs and sanctions, warning of rising inflation and banking risks.
Since day 1 of the war i’ve been reading headlines saying “russia will be bankrupt in 3 months”, “russian economy has collapsed”… still hasnt happened…
I’m not cheering for russia, and i’m not yelling “fake news mainstream media!!”
It’s just my observation… i’m not sure who to believe. Its probably somewhere in the middle. Not as rosy as russia reports, but not as dire as the western media says
The people shouting “it’s all gone” are wrong. But there is absolutely massive (self inflicted) damage done to the Russian economy that they won’t recover from in decades, if ever.
Russia is spending every last bit of Soviet Union legacy on this war, from military gear to population.
The question is how much more damage are they willing to take, and historically, the answer to that question has always been “I didn’t hear no bell”.
