Discuss.tchncs doesn’t require email. Not sure about cloudflare, but I don’t think it was down a few days ago, so probably not using it
It requires email.
An instance not requiring email is going to be exploited by spammers and scammers, and probably defederated quite fast
The problem is that I can register with temp email on Reddit, while it’s not an option on Lemmy.
Register with an Outlook or Tuta you use only for Lemmy.
Reddit also does shadowbans for suspected spam users, meaning you could be banned on sign up without realising, so do the same there.
theres more to the fediverse than lemmy. same content, different platform.
some will work with temp email, like https://moist.catsweat.com/
Reddit is bot-ridden
With all respect to your opinion, there is a lot of original content on Reddit. There is a reason why Reddit is one of the top Social Media websites in 2025(According to SimilarWeb):

Looking at that list, do these 7 websites seem to be good platforms to you?
- Google (mauh, has some good utilities)
- YouTube (Basically the only available videos platform, like it or not)
- Facebook (A lot of content that you might not know of is only shared on Facebook exclusively, despite being currently filled with slop)
- Instagram (Again, pretty good amount of exclusive content, like it or not)
- ChatGPT(No comment here)
- X/Twitter, weirdly enough, shit load of exclusive content, despite a lot of people leaving the platform and Mastodon and Bluesky having a better offerings.
- Reddit.
Regardless if you want to admit it or not, exclusive content and good offerings attracts people.
Good is subjective. You listed the worst shit of the internet IMHO, and I wouldn’t be bothered if they disappeared tomorrow.
You were asked about the merit of these platforms.
Your response is mostly a list of comments on the content they host, rather than the platforms.
So happy that I use exactly zero of those.
What you can do is to register with a bogus email and reach out to the admins for manual activation.
That’s what I did, but with three important caveats:
- I used all the charm I could muster.
- The admins in question are exceptionally hoopy froods.
- I had (and hopefully still have) a reasonably long track record of being active on Lemmy with little to no scumbaggery.
