7-8 years ago I was handing out candy at a friend’s house while they took their kids out. 3 boys in zoot suits with suitcases instead of bags showed up and asked for potatoes.

I gave them each one from the pantry and they went nuts. When my friends returned with the kids, they told me they’d overheard the kids talking up the potato house.

I know it’s unlikely, but part of me wants to be responsible for the trend.
