Honestly, it’s looking like Monster Hunter Stories 3 will by my next “game where you collect monsters in some fashion” game.

Nintendo deserves every bad thing that happens to them. They’re never getting a single penny from me ever again.

Let me guess, they’re introducing base-building and crafting elements that they somehow patented ten years ago.

I think it would have been more of a thing if RSE had online support. If you were just playing through by yourself then it was just kind of meaningless, but the main point was when you linked with someone, their secret base was brought into your game, along with their current team. They would occupy that base, and you could battle them. Imagine if the game brought a smattering of bases from the internet? Even a gen later.

I know that GF built pokemon around the link cable, but I feel like they overestimated how many of my friends would be playing.

Coromon is a pretty good indie if you liked the old GBA games. Temtem is one I had fun with in the 3d space.

TemTem is going to, or already has, announced the servers for the game were going offline, but that you could still play single player. A noble move when big companies are just shuttering their servers and leaving their games unplayable.

Second coromon! Its my favorite monster catcher besides Pokémon. Nexomon doesn’t take itself seriously and is a nice filler for Pokémon as well.

The only alternatives I‘ve played were Nexomon and TemTem, and Nexomon‘s grind sucked the life outta me, especially when they pulled a „oh nonono, this new region has different levels you have to grind from 0!“

TemTem was pretty fun in co-op though… even though I had to play with a VPN for the first time in my entire life cause somehow players wouldn‘t move on my screen with my „raw“ connection. No game has ever done this before nor has any game acted like this since lol, completely weird.

Nice! Glad I’m not the only one.

My wife played through nexomon! She liked it but the visual style wasn’t my thing. But it did look fun.

Mine went away when they discovered like 400 new pokemon and still told me I gotta catch em all.

      No mate.

150 (151 actually omg you didnt even know that what kind of fan are you you didnt even…) was plenty. Took me fucking ages to get them all. Im not going through that shit again.

Idk, I completed both Gen I and II fully, getting all 151 (plus MissingNo.) and 251 Pokemon respectively in those games, and it wasn’t that bad. If you’re just doing the regional pokedex each game I’d probably find it fun because I like collecting things.

Trying to complete the national pokedex in later games sounds miserable though. 1,000+ Pokemon in one game?? No thanks. But I’m fairly certain you can’t even complete the national pokedex anymore because many older Pokemon just aren’t in the newer games.

Yea new games don’t even have a full national dex, iirc anything past the 3ds lacks a full national dex. Pay more for less!

I feel like that was bound to happen eventually. They’re already at over 1,000 pokemon and this is a cash cow they’re never putting down. It’s still super lame though.

I rather be a Boomer than be foolish enough to pay $60 every year for the same exact game. Pokémon has changed so little that I could pick up a modern title 20 years after playing my last one and still know exactly how the game mechanics work with no tutorial.

Good. I have no empathy for huge corporate bullies. In fact if the leaks are true, they deserve it even more for their audacity. I mean a survival monster catcher game? Seriously?

You’ve got to catch them all, but now there’s an endless stream of them being generated by the Nintendo AI.
