The door key at the girlfriend’s house was not interested in entering the lock let alone turning. Went to Home Depot, picked up a small overpriced tube of graphite and lubed them up. Works like a brand new lock now.
I gotta say that it’s really satisfying for that squeak or resistance to be gone. Running around the house with some oil or similar is pretty satisfying.
Wow… Wow.
Always lube your holes.
Some advice works in any situation.
My dad always just used a graphite pencil, works great for cheap!
Like, draw on the key and stick it in, or what?
Yeah, basically just rub it on whatever metal surface needs lubricating. Use the side of the point like you’re shading a drawing to cover more surface area quicker. It worked well on sticky door latches, but I could see the key and lock mechanism being more trouble to lubricate this way.
Good job!
