    Why wouldn’t they, it’s your duty to maintain your equipment.

    I managed buildings for years, although it seems petty, It’s your job, not the tenant.

    And in the case of the detector battery, that’s 100% your responsibility and it’s a criminal offense in Canada for tenants to touch alarms or detectors.
