I’d like to start an instance about “bragging”. It’d be an instance to celebrate small wins. Like “I did a thing I’ve been dreading!” I’m almost positive I have ADHD despite that my mother never bothered to have me checked because fuck me, im just a problem right? Well I’d like to set up an instance for people to kind of celebrate doing the things that we absolutely hate doing. “I got my house refinanced and saved $40 a month!” Awesome! I bet that took a lot of effort! Good on you doing the thing!

My doctor said if I have ADHD, that it’s not bad enough to do anything about. And I’ve heard stories of others getting the same thing. So it would be more of a positive support group for people who struggle with those types of things. Like, when I get happy about doing/finishing something mundane, people are like “uh …cool” cause they don’t get the struggle of doing something so mundane. It’s so much of a struggle that others don’t understand. So when you struggle with this kind of thing, saying “I cleaned the bathroom” gets a response like “that sucks” but that was a win for this person. I want a place for people to brag about knocking things off their never-ending list, to celebrate the win, even if it’s nothing to others.

So my question is how do I do this? How do I make a new instance?

Edit: just to stave off the main communication issue, I meant community, not Instance. If anyone has voyager and has done it can help, that’d be great. And I appreciate all help, both previous to the edit and after. Thank you all for the much more supportive place than reddit.

Since you got the answer you were looking for. I’d like to address this:

My doctor said if I have ADHD, that it’s not bad enough to do anything about.

That response is just awful. How would they know? If they knew the bare minimum about these types of conditions, then they would never say anything like that (i.e. masking symptoms to try to ‘fit in’ and such). Otherwise, if they don’t know enough about the subject, then they shouldn’t be acting like they do. A doctor should be familiar with saying something like “let me look into that more.”

Undiagnosed and unmanaged ADHD (and/or autism and general anxiety disorder, which are comorbidities) leads to a drastic increase of the likelihood of developing drug abuse and addiction, and even an increase in mortality rates and decreased life expectancy (link) among other issues.

Oof, you’re not wrong there! But with rfk running around wanting a “database”, I’m not about to even mention the topic atm. Regardless of whether or not there’s an argument of whether ADHD belongs on the scale, I’m trying to be as anonymous as possible for the time being.
