I don’t know anything about this pressure campaign you mentioned but do they still work with them? It’s not like Kurzgesagt have no say over what the Gates Foundation does. If they still work together then that’s not great but the Gates Foundation has also done lots of good stuff too, no? Idk what outweighs what but I think there are organisations that are far worse that we should be concerned about.

I mean, Linus’s video about a fire truck toy was a gag and that was ages ago. The gags have always been big parts of the videos.

If you want pure information and performance metrics, ltt isn’t the place to go for sure. But not every video needs to be dense on plots and performance metrics. They didn’t even start out doing that, they transitioned to that from doing unboxings. He’s said himself they aren’t doing that on the main channel anymore cause others have carved that niche for themselves.

They definitely do more shovelware content these days but unfortunately it does seem to be what big creators do to stay relevant

Tbh, they always had the gags in their videos. I think the do make some really informative and interesting content. Especially their tours of factories or other industrial equipment.

Anyway, like the other commenter said, depends where your switching from but Zorin is pretty much making Linux as easy to use as possible. They even have a wrapper for bottles that makes installing windows apps with wine easier. I quite like it and would be what I’d suggest to someone who wants a general purpose computer. It’s not great for gaming though as they don’t use super up-to-date packages so performance is lacking. That being said, it looks great and makes things as easy as possible for noobies

Imo, having Proton just copy Google but actually be private is exactly what I want. Of course, if they stray away from privacy then there will be issues. I also feel like they are making good stuff. Not sure what market your in but in Europe the price gap is not that huge, 30% max far as I can tell. Obviously that’s still quite a bit when we are talking about car money but 20 vs 60 as you mention is not realistic as long as your not comparing the byd dolfin to a Mercedes.

I agree with your want for having everyone be more cooperative. The Chinese started by being quite cooperative in building cars with western companies. I used to think that was good but now that CCP has turned it around and doesn’t want to share any of their developed tech with other players, I think western business greed got the better of us. I’m not as pesemistic as others that the west is very far behind. European brands do make some killer electric cars but they may not have quite the range or quite the low price and they have not been on the market for that long.

The interconnection between the modes of transport is another great point. At least starting with having train transfers be more coordinated (since they wouldn’t be run by different companies) is a good start.

Unsure how coordinating all the different privat bus networks would go but definitely something the government should prioritise too. If the system can actually work then hopefully that means we can get people out of cars.

I like nationalisation as a concept. I don’t like that currently it is still a concept as Labor has not made clear, concrete commitments for what it could mean.

I understand that ticket prices are unlikely to come down. It sucks but I hope they can at least commit to freezing prices for a while or something. I think nationalisation offers the opportunity to rework the ticketing system as a whole to have it be completely integrated. I hope this would mean you can just tap in and out of stations and have the lowest price automatically calculated like they are in some European countries (the Netherlands for example).

Whilst you can’t trust what Trump says, I find it hard to see the Ukrainians being able to offer a better deal than what Putin can (in his eyes).
