Oh, I was talking about the gog installers. It’s advised by gog to keep the installers after you bought the game.
I guess you meant illegal copies, and you are right, in that case the police would definitely knock on a Sunday morning.

And how would they do that? Knock on my door on a Sunday morning, enter and trash my external hard drives where I keep the backup installers?

I’ve got to give credit to the gaming industry, it never fails to surprise me. They are extremely creative in finding new ways to press money out of gamers. I wish they would put that creative energy into their games, but well…
On the other hand, the gamers are not better. They pay for a weapon skin, a loot box, a mini DLC mission, they preorder, they accept always on line, they accept game clients required running in the background, buggy games on release date, now paid mods, kernel level anti cheat. Did I forget something?
Who can blame good old Todd and all the other guys?

Forgive me in saying this, but this whole discussion has gotten way out of proportion. It’s been a while since I’ve seen that many death threats left and right. But that’s the internet nowadays. Tiresome.

I did not mean that crap of course!
But if technology existed that would enhance graphics of old games to look like stuff from 2016 or so that would be pretty neat. I would definitely use it!
But that won’t happen I guess…

If this could be applied to games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein, System Shock 2, Soldier of Fortune, Medal of Honour, Tron 2.0, Call of Duty and all other titles from that era, I would not mind in the slightest.
A man can dream…

It’s from a time the new era started to take off while most ordinary people (and filmmakers) had no idea what was really coming. Nor did they really understand any of it. Like Hackers this makes The Net extremely interesting to watch, it’s not good, but it just keeps on giving!

One of the reasons to make gog your primary platform. Download the installer, even older versions if you prefer. Voilà.
It’s the most friendly platform for consumers at the moment.

When I realized this I decided to turn off my views on my own up and down votes. I had no idea how relaxing it is to just post and not give a fuck what people think. The opposite thinking was drilled into me by Reddit pretty well over the years. I’m so glad I escaped that shithole.
Still, if you do this, please don’t be an asshole!

I guess it’s back to good old forums, hosted in Mukibukistan on the other side of the world.
Wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Please elaborate.

While we are at it, I would really love to see a new adventure of the Honour Among Thieves Party. I loved that movie, please give us more!

Pretty sure you know this site, but here it is anyway: https://radio.garden/
I discovered a lot of interesting stuff over the years.

Smoke crack all the time. (That can’t be good for me but I feel great!)
Piss in the air when on fire to distinguish the flames.
Put cats on gun barrel for improvised silencer.
We are weird people!

Never really got into the first one, but Postal 2 I still play from time to time. That game is so over the top ridiculous, I love it.
Honourable mention: Kemono Friends (a show based on a bad mobile game, kids oriented, does not deserve to be that good, but it is)

For now there’s nothing of the sort, but I’m only a few hours in. Could it be too good to be true…?
Well, let’s see. It is a AAA game after all…
Edit: No, the game really is fun. 20 hours in, and I must say even if it were only exploring Hogwarts it would be quite worth my time. The music and atmosphere are really neat.
Edit2: I can’t believe it’s a AAA title. There is no ingame shop, everything is obtainable just by playing. The world is beautiful and full of interesting stuff to find. And best of all: it’s fun! The cash grab part is just a lie. If you have an agenda, use arguments, not lies.

To be fair, Hogwarts Legacy is a very good game, I started playing yesterday and the atmosphere of the movies is perfectly captured! I did expect a cash grab, but I was totally wrong.

I’m still waiting for Half Life 2 on gog.
It is what it is.
“Duh! It’s just an algorithm! We won’t read anything! Promise mmmmkay??” Mark Zuckerberg probably.
